Job overview

We are looking to recruit a Maternity Support Worker for the Canterbury Community Midwifery team.

The successful applicant will be motivated, able to work independently as well as within a team and strive to provide exceptional care to women throughout the pregnancy continuum. 

 

Main duties of the job

An opportunity has arisen for a motivated individual to join the East Kent Trust, Thanet community team to support the midwives in their provision of woman centered, midwife led care.

This is an excellent opportunity for professional and personal development for those who want the experience of working in a flexible service. It is essential that applicants have the basic level of competency identified in the personal specification.

The successful applicant will be a crucial member of the maternity team providing clinical support to women and babies as well as clerical, administrative, general housekeeping and other supportive roles within the midwifery service.

Qualification

Essential criteria
  • NVQ Level 3 in health and social care or
  • 3 A-Levels or Qualified MSW
Desirable criteria
  • MSW programme and completed competencies

Clinical Skills & Experience

Essential criteria
  • Current MSW within NHS
  • At least 6 months experience as an MCA
  • Ability to work as a team member
  • To be literate and numerate
  • Venepuncture
  • Sound IT skills
Desirable criteria
  • Ability to use Sunrise and PAS
  • Experience in community setting
  • Sound knowledge of E3 systems
  • Newborn Bloodspot testing
  • CO monitoring of women

Personal & Professional Attributes

Essential criteria
  • Good communication skills Computer Literate Awareness of escalation Good decision making skills Able to work autonomously

Other Requirements

Essential criteria
