Job overview

East Kent Hospitals University Foundation Trust  is seeking  an acute experienced Dietitian to join the team at Kent and Canterbury Hospital, Canterbury as a band 7 Highly Specialist Neurological Dietitian in an expanding team.

You will become a member of the  multi-disciplinary team (MDT) and be responsible for leading the nutritional management of adults in these specialties.

An opportunity to develop both clinical and leadership skills, you will provide specialist advice, education and support to patients, their family or carers and other healthcare professionals. In addition, you will be actively involved in the Trust’s Clinical Governance Framework, including responsibility for continuing professional development (CPD) and audit activities within this specialist area.

 

Main duties of the job

The Dietetic team is part of a large and friendly therapy department and works closely with the wider MDT to provide expert nutritional advice for patients within the specialty area.

To take a lead role and be responsible for the advanced assessment, treatment and management of patients requiring dietetic input.

To jointly lead the dietetic team and provide clinical supervision and teaching.

Involvement in service improvement and clinical audit.

Qualifications and Training

Essential criteria
  • BSc Nutrition and dietetics or relevant degree with post graduate diploma in dietetics
  • Health Professions Council registration for dietetics
  • Trained in facilitated learning for Undergraduate Practice Placements
Desirable criteria
  • BDA membership
  • Membership of a BDA Interest Group
  • Post graduate training in relevant specialty

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of providing dietetic treatment in specialist area
  • Experience of working as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Experience of supervising dietitians/dietetic assistant practitioners
  • Experience of audit, research and service improvement projects
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of MDT collaboration at all levels.
  • Experience of working in critical care

  • Able to work safely and effectively under own initiative.
  • Ability to work in a team, with good time management and organisational skills
