Job overview
East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust (EKHUFT) is looking to appoint a full-time Specialist in Neuro-rehabilitation, who will provide out-patient and ward referral services to the Trust as well as providing in-patient support to the neuro-rehabilitation ward . The Trust is one of the biggest in the country with three acute sites and an increasing commitment to working jointly with partners in the community.
Main duties of the job
The Individual will have a continuing responsibility for the care of patients in their charge and to undertake the administrative duties associated with their care.
1. Inpatient Care: Management of 19-bedded inpatient facility including up to 2 tracheostomy patients
2. Multidisciplinary Team Leadership: Facilitation of weekly MDT meetings
4. outpatient clinics
5. Spasticity Services: Spasticity clinic including botulinum toxin injections and assessment for intrathecal Baclofen pump eligibility
6. Clinical Governance: Participation in clinical governance aspects of neuro-rehabilitation service
7. Service Development: Production and dissemination of annual service performance reports based on UKROC Database
8. Referral Management: Triage of new referrals to determine admission.
9. requirements or signposting to allied community services
Working for our organisation
The successful applicants will be joining a team of 10 Consultant Neurologists, 2 Consultant Neurophysiologists and a Rehabilitation Consultant.
There are close links with the King’s College Hospital Regional Neuroscience Centre at Denmark Hill in London. The Consultants will be expected to develop specialist interests, and to make contributions to service development, research and teaching.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The Neurosciences department has a strong history of Clinical Leadership, and we will encourage new colleagues to develop their Leadership and Management skills with education programs and mentorship.
The post-holder will be supported in undertaking relevant audits in the specialty area.
The post-holder will be expected to undertake CPD activities which will be supported through the agreed job plan. Active participation in appraisal and revalidation will take place on an annual cycle and access to mentoring is available through the Kent Clinician Development Programme.
Appropriate secretarial support will be provided as well as office space and IT equipment.

Essential criteria
- Professional Qualifications
- Full GMC Registration
- CCST Specialist Registration in Rehabilitation Medicine or will obtain within 6 months of interview date
Desirable criteria
- Higher Degree (MD /PhD or equivalent)
- Experience in delivering a Spasticity service
Skills and Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience in inpatient and outpatient neurological clinical care
- The ability to converse at ease with customers and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for the post
Clinical governance

- Participation in Audits, Morbidity & Mortality, Structured Judgement Reviews
