Job overview

 To provide clinical leadership to the nursing and AHP’s staff with the outpatients remit across the multiple site and balancing the challenges of providing safe services with excellent outcomes and in a way that delivers efficiencies and meets the expectations of patients and the public.

·         To provide clinical leadership to nursing and AHP’s in delivering person-centred, safe and effective care and develop the leadership capability of others. To maintain a highly visible presence as a role model to staff, patients and visitors by working a minimum of 20% time in clinical practice across the range of services relevant to the role.

·         To hold professional accountability for patient safety and effective care with a particular focus on the strategic priorities excellent services to our patients and carers, effective resource management and have appropriately trained staff and a robust training plan to meet the service requirements to meet the other care groups demands.

Main duties of the job

Ensuring the provision of high quality, safe, effective care that meets the expectations of patients and the public. To provide high support and challenge clinical teams using our resource, aware of the ways of working and the outpatient’s expectation of them to achieve an outpatient session for patients and to ensure efficiency of services that meets their goal. To maintain credibility and flexibility as a competent practitioner in an ever-changing environment. To ensure full outpatient utilisation and productivity.

Knowledge, experience and skills

Essential criteria
  • Minimum 8 years post registration experience.
  • At least 2 years’ experience in a senior leadership role
  • Managing service level change in an acute hospital setting.
  • Track record of delivering high standards of care
  • Resolving user concerns effectively
  • Continuous quality improvement. Budget management.
  • Staff empowerment and development.
  • Ability to achieve change through others.
  • NMC Registered Nurse,Master’s Degree or working towards, Leadership qualification.
  • Problem solving. Flexibility.
  • Good knowledge of Clinical Governance implementation
  • Proven budgetry management and skills
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills.
  • Highly developed negotiating and influencing skills.
  • Risk management
  • NHS Resolution, CQUINs, Clinical Indicators, CQC standards for registration.
  • Calm under pressure
Desirable criteria
  • 10 years post registration experience.
