Senior Research Delivery Administrator

Band 4

Job overview

East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation trust (EKHUFT) is a large, diverse and complex organisation with an active and vibrant research programme. As part of the Research & Innovation department, you can expect to work with a dynamic and proactive team, who recognise and integrate research as a core aspect of care delivery.

The Senior Research Delivery Administrator role will be part of the research workforce within the Trust and will support the delivery of high-quality research studies. We are looking for an experienced research delivery administrator to help support and expand the large portfolio of NIHR research studies within the Trust.

Applicants should have at least 3 years of experience within an administration role, and at least 1 year of experience working in an administrative/data research delivery role within the NHS, along with experience of working within a busy environment, dealing with members of the public and working under pressure. Excellent communication skills, meticulous attention to detail, enthusiasm and flexibility are other essential requirements for this post.

The post-holder will be based at Kent and Canterbury Hospital in Ashford, within our well-established research team.

Main duties of the job

The overall purpose of the role is to provide effective and reliable administrative support to the research delivery team to ensure that research studies are delivered safely, effectively, on time and to target. The role will focus on a wide range of research studies across multiple specialities.

Due to the nature of research and potential fluctuations in study demands and/or workload and staffing levels, it may be necessary for the post-holder to cover additional specialities and/or sites as required. The post holder will ensure the smooth set up and day to day running of research studies, working as part of the research team.

The work will include the timely collection, co-ordination and submission of data, the completion of national and local regulatory documentation and maintenance of a clear audit trail, in accordance with national legislation and local policies. The post holder will be required to develop knowledge of multiple research studies taking place across East Kent Hospitals and to communicate the research programme and strategy to multi-disciplinary staff throughout the Trust.

Working for our organisation

We are one of the largest hospital trusts in England, with five
hospitals and community clinics serving a local population of around 800,000 people. Our vision is 'great healthcare from great people'. Everything we do is guided by our values: 'People feel cared for, safe, respected and confident that we are making a difference’. We have a new way of working at East Kent Hospitals, called 'We care'. It's about empowering frontline staff to lead improvements day-to-day. We're looking for compassionate people to be part of our improvement journey for the patients, families and carers we care for every day.

Applications for this role should be written by the applicant. If artificial intelligence (AI) programmes are used then the application may be rejected due to this document being an important part of the assessment process. This does not prevent applicants seeking appropriate support with applications should they need to for the purposes of any declared disability.

Please note that if you require a Certificate of Sponsorship to work in the UK you must declare this on your application form, even if you currently have a certificate of sponsorship or a work permit for another role and are already working in the country. Please note we are only able to sponsor candidates on a Skilled Worker Visa applying for roles Band 5 and above.
