We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated pharmacist to join our team, with the opportunity to complete a clinical certificate/diploma and train as a Mental Health Pharmacist through individually tailored developmental support.
During your journey and development within KMPT, you will work closely with multidisciplinary teams and the key aspects of this clinical post will include attending ward rounds, patient education and counselling, clinical audit and medicines information.
You must be able to show compassion and respect for people with mental health problems and be driven to improve their care through medicines management.
Main duties of the job
To be part of a team that provides a comprehensive clinical pharmacy and medicines management service to the mental health unit.
Support patients and their families by providing advice about the use of medication, optimising treatment, providing information and liaising with acute and other care providers to ensure seamless transfer of care.
This role does not require mental health experience and the expectation would be for the candidate to learn and build their experience on the job through formal learning and work-based practice.
Ongoing training and support will be provided by the Lead Education and Training Pharmacist and the local clinical pharmacy team, with clinical supervision being provided by one of our experienced Senior Clinical Pharmacists.
Further support will be available from the Trust-wide pharmacy team if required.
You will be part of a clinical pharmacy team that provides a medicines management service to the inpatient wards.
You will also be involved in working with the other pharmacists and pharmacy technicians in undertaking and developing audits and projects to evaluate and improve services alongside pharmacy and trust priorities and objectives.

Contribute to good physical health and wellbeing of patients by providing expert advice and performing interventions to improve physical health.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Masters degree in pharmacy + 1 year pre-registration training
- Registered with GPhC
Desirable criteria
- Post-graduate qualification in psychopharmacology
- Post-graduate qualification in Clinical Pharmacy or equivalent specialist knowledge, acquired through a broad spectrum of clinical pharmacy training and experience
Experience
Essential criteria
- Interest in working in Mental Health Services
Desirable criteria
- Experience of working in mental health services
- Knowledge of Mental Health therapeutics
- Understanding of principals of Clinical Governance
- Able to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary setting
