Job overview
Are you an experienced Treatment Planner/Dosimetrist looking for a new challenge? We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated individuals for two full-time permanent positions within the Treatment Planning group at our Maidstone site.
Kent Oncology Centre currently has nine Varian linear accelerators across the two sites each with dedicated CT-Simulators. We have Eclipse for treatment planning with RapidArc VMAT, IGRT, vDIBH and SABR Lung in routine use. This is an exciting time to join our team as we embark on a programme of SABR expansion and further expand the use of Eclipse as our principle Treatment Planning System.
Depending on skills and experience we would consider appointing at a lower band and would provide development milestones. We also consider flexible working with the expectation of supporting the working hours of service.

Main duties of the job
As a Treatment Planning Radiographer/Dosimetrist you will participate in all aspects of the Treatment Planning section: You will also participate in CT simulation, including cannulation and contrast, Mould Room assistance, rgans-at-risk outlining and production of complex treatment plans including VMAT planning,
Depending on your own particular skills and interests and the future requirements of the service we will actively encourage and support you to develop your role through postgraduate training and role extension.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- BSc (Therapeutic Radiography), DCR (T) or equivalent and HCPC registration as a therapeutic radiographer OR B.Sc. Honours Degree in Healthcare Science (Radiotherapy Physics), Physics, Applied Physics or a relevant subject and eligibility for appropriate registration as Clinical Technologist/Healthcare Scientist Practitioner

Experience & Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Post qualification experience with treatment planning experience
- Knowledge of conformal and IMRT treatment planning and patient immobilisation.
- Understanding of the risks arising from equipment failure and treatment planning areas.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation (IRR and IR(ME)R) Act as an Operator under the terms of IR(ME)R
Desirable criteria
- Post qualification experience in treatment planning or CT

Essential criteria
- Basic computer skills including the use of Word, Excel and Windows applications.
- Able to work with cancer patients
- Able to work under pressure
- Able to cope with stressful situations
- Able to communicate highly complex instructions clearly and unambiguously within a multidisciplinary team both verbally and in writing
- Able to teach and train groups of other professional staff
- Good negotiation skills
- Able to develop good professional relationships with multidisciplinary staff groups
- Understanding of hazards posed by, and precautions needed with Ionising Radiation
- Understanding of infection control
- May occasionally work with unpleasant body fluids.

- Good time management skills and ability to work deadlines
- Able to lift medium weights
Desirable criteria
- Trained and competent in Cannulation
