Job overview

Performs independently transthoracic echocardiography, (TTE) using manual dexterity and precision, exercising specialist judgemental skills when acquiring images. To perform 12 Lead Electrocardiograms when necessary.
To produce full, accurate and comprehensive clinical reports independently for each study, which will directly affect patient care and/or management. Responsibility for own caseload.

Responsible along with the other Band 7 Physiologist for the operational responsibility of the department on a day to day basis. This includes a clinical workload (i.e. performing and/or reporting on all the non-invasive tests) as well as day to day management and supervision of staff.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

To take a leading role in staff development and training as required.
Will conduct Appraisals with the other Band 7 physiologist for other members of the Department.
To initiate and participate in clinical audit within the department and to use the results to improve quality of service.
To be a specialist in echocardiography, etc. to develop competence in clinical supervision and be able to act as clinical supervisor where necessary.

  • Highly developed specialist knowledge underpinned by theory and in-depth experience in technical

  • Able to draw upon a broad range of clinical knowledge

  • Knowledge of at least two disciplines of technical Cardiology acquired with proven experience.
  • 1- 2 years post BSE Accreditatio
  • 3 years’ experience at a Senior level of independent practice
