To work as a member of the nursing team, under the supervision and  guidance of a Registered Nurse

Undertakes delegated personal care duties for patients/clients.

To provide support for the Registered Nursing staff in maintaining a  stable and safe clinical environment.

Education and Training

Essential criteria
  • NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care (or equivalent)
  • Evidence of mandatory training and other relevant study days

Skills and Abilities

Essential criteria
  • Physical skills obtained through practice
  • Demonstrate competence in nursing procedures that require basic understanding of Anatomy & Physiology
  • Prioritise, plan own work
  • Able to act on own initiative (in relation to delivering patient/client care)
  • To be able to supervise less experienced staff
Desirable criteria
  • Act as NVQ assessor
  • European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL)

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Previous relevant experience in dealing with the public
  • Experience of working in an Emergency Department
