Overview
There are a number of volunteering opportunities offered by Dartford and Gravesham NHS Trust at both Darent Valley Hospital and Queen Mary’s Hospital, at Sidcup.
Volunteers help support the hospital in numerous different ways, assisting clinical staff on ward, meeting and greeting, as well as assisting office based staff with admin tasks.
We require the volunteers to be able to commit to a minimum of 3 hours of volunteering each week.
Subject to satisfactory references, Criminal Records Bureau checks and Occupational Health clearance and an informal interview we will invite you to join our volunteers.
You will complete our training programme and then move onto specific placements at the Trust.
Please note this is a volunteer position and you will not be paid for carrying out this role.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Please note this is a volunteer position and you will not be paid for carrying out this role.
· Introduce yourself to the patient and say who you are and explain what you are going to do/how you can help them.
· Promote the value of patient feedback to both patients and staff,and explain that feedback is anonymous, valued and acted on
· Ensure the FFT is completed in full, with a rating and comments.
· Identify patients that are due for discharge by liaising with the ward team, assist those patients to complete the FFT on the ward patient experience Ipads.
· Collect any completed paper copies of the FFT, and input the data on to the ward patient experience Ipad or Trust FFT webpage manually.
· Move from ward to ward daily to capture all patients that are to be discharged on that given day.
· Once inpatient discharge FFT are completed, promote outpatient feedback, by locating at the exit points to main outpatient areas, with the Outpatient patient experience Ipad.
· Promote Feedback Fridays, and offer ALL inpatients the chance to give feedback via the FFT on the patient experience Ipad.
· Listen to patient’s feedback, reporting and raising any concerns to staff appropriately
· Identify trends and themes from patient feedback and report these to the Head of Patient and Public Engagement.
· Attend the monthly ‘Patient Experience Champions’ meeting chaired by the Head of Patient and Public Engagement.

Applicant requirements
The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
