Are you a dedicated and compassionate Health Care Assistant looking to enhance your skills in a dynamic and supportive environment?

We are excited to launch a new phlebotomy service and are seeking an enthusiastic HCA to join us for 22.5 hours per week. Please note candidates must be able to work Wednesdays 8am – 2pm. These positions include working on a rotational basis within our Community Nursing Team, providing the opportunity for a more varied and rewarding role.

This is a unique opportunity to be part of a growing service that puts patient care at the heart of everything we do. You’ll play a vital role in delivering high-quality phlebotomy services while also supporting patients in their homes as part of our community nursing rotation.

Main duties of the job

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform venepuncture and support the delivery of our new phlebotomy service for both Adults and Children.
  • Carry out patient interventions within your scope of practice.
  • Manage your own schedule to ensure timely visits are completed efficiently.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience as a Health Care Assistant (community experience desirable)
  • Phlebotomy training or willingness to undertake training
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Must be available to work every Wednesday, 8am – 2pm

Person specification

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Relevant level 3 qualification (NVQ/ QCF Diploma or certificate of care / Advanced apprenticeship) or equivalent or working towards
  • Functional Skills at Level 2 (Literacy and numeracy/ GCSE grade A-C or equivalent in English and Maths)

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience as a Healthcare Assistant/ Worker in a health or social care setting
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of phlebotomy for children and adults.

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Knowledge of up to date clinical practice
  • Understands the role and remit of Unregistered worker

Skills & Abilities

Essential criteria
  • Sound communication and interpersonal skills (verbal & written)
  • Ability to organise own work.

Personal Attributes

Essential criteria
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Valid driving licence and access to a car for work purposes.

Ability to manage

Essential criteria
  • Ability to prioritise care delivery in a professional manner, taking into account Trust policies and procedures.
  • Ability to manage own time effectively.
