Job overview

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Band 6 Registered Nurse to support the Endoscopy Alternative Pathway Lead Nurse. This role will focus on developing and delivering alternative diagnostic pathways such as Trans Nasal EndoscopyCapsule Sponge, Large and Small Bowel capsule. You will be working alongside the Lead Nurse and with all members of the multi-disciplinary team, managing patient care throughout the diagnostic process, and ensuring the service meets the highest standards of clinical care and efficiency

Main duties of the job

As the Endoscopy Alternative Pathway Specialist Nurse, you will be playing a supportive role in developing the innovative service for the trust alongside the Lead Nurse for the Alternative Pathways. Based on a pre-defined inclusion / exclusion criteria, you will be making clinical decisions regarding which patients are fit and appropriate to undergo Capsule Sponge / Large and Small Bowel Capsule testing. You will also be assisting with Trans Nasal procedures.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Current NMC/HCPC registration
  • Degree relevant to professional registration and area of clinical practice. Or Willing to work towards a degree
Desirable criteria
  • Formal teaching or mentoring qualification
  • Completion of Capsule Sponge / Small/Large Bowel Competencies

Experience

Essential criteria
  • A minimum of 2 years recent experience working at a band five level within a gastroenterology or specialist care setting
  • Communication / interpersonal skills both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to prioritise workload and manage own time effectively
  • Negotiating and influencing skills Able to teach others Able to manage complex and competing issues Able to remain calm under Pressure
Desirable criteria
  • Nurse Led Consent
  • Experience of working with Hospital and basic IT systems
  • Understanding of endoscopic procedures and therapies
  • Innovative working practices
  • Experience of running clinics and follow ups
