We are recruiting for a Senior ER Advisor who shares our ambition and vision to deliver the Best of Care by the Best People and has the drive to take us forward, by ensuring that the Trust continues to be the first choice for patients and our staff.
To provide leadership to the ER team, ensuring that ER casework is completed to a high standard and in adherence to Key Performance Indicators.
To take the lead on providing ER advice and to ensure that the advisory service provided by the ER team is of a high standard, in line with trust policies and NHS Terms and Conditions, and contributing towards innovative strategies to improve on the key service delivery areas within ER casework.
Main duties of the job
To be responsible for advising all Trust Managers and staff on the correct application of HR policies, procedure and NHS Terms and Conditions
Manage an operational caseload of complex ER cases, ensuring these are managed to quality standards and timescales.
Provide supervision to ER Advisors, supporting to manage their caseload and escalating concerns or delays to the ER Manager.
Reporting on ER KPIs, and producing actions to ensure completion of ER cases within policy timescales

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
An exciting opportunity has arisen for someone looking to develop and progress their ER skills and experience. The Senior ER Advisor role will provide supervisory support to the ER Advisors, advising on complex ER issues and support the delivery of the ER caseload.
Ensure effective communication with all members of the HR teams, cascading information as necessary
Support HR Business Partners in change management to ensure that change, where possible, is planned, managed and implemented in accordance with Trust policies whilst enabling Care Groups to meet their business objectives.
Develop and maintain close working relationships with other providers of service to the trusts workforce e.g. Occupational Health, payroll and pensions and act as a link between managers these service providers to ensure the implementation of advice e.g. return to work, reasonable adjustments, redeployments, ill health retirements as well as other work related issues.
Working with the Head of ER to support with the development and review of HR policies ensuring all existing, new or amended policies are implemented in a timely fashion across the Trust
Effective monitoring of HR KPI’s in relation to casework by regular analysis of the HR casework tracker and supervision of the ER Advisors caseload
Monitor trends in employment practice/caseload and advise on appropriate proactive actions.
Ensure that all ER casework is recorded and tracked using the appropriate HR systems, with all information being uploaded in a timely manner, and ensuring all information related to ER casework is appropriately recorded in the designated shared drive to aid effective management information provision
To arrange, chair and attend meetings representing HR on for example, case conferences for complex cases, formal hearings, policy development/review and meetings.
To undertake internal audits as necessary to provide assurances of adherence to policy and processes etc.
Coaching and development of individual line managers across the organisation enabling them to increase their competency in dealing with Employee Relations issues, ensuring appropriate consistency across the Trust and protecting the Trust from the risk of litigation
In conjunction with the Organisational and Professional Development team, contribute to the development of training packages and deliver training to managers and staff on subjects such as bullying and harassment and managing sickness
Contribute to the development and continual improvement of the HR service, for example, by commenting on and suggesting improvements to team procedures and ways of working
Work on own initiative, managing own workload effectively and taking corrective action where necessary
Lead on one or more specialist areas as agreed, taking responsibility for the achievement of key objectives and delivering according to project milestones
Oversee the Trust Job Matching Process, ensuring roles are being recorded and tracked via a centralised system and process is being carried out in adherence with trust policy
Responsible for ensuring that data requests for reporting purposes and provided in a timely manner, for example Freedom of Information, WRES/WDES etc.
Any other tasks commensurate with the role that may from time to time be required
Provide professional leadership and line management to ER Advisors, ensuring regular appraisals and appropriate development plans are in place.
Provide day to day supervision to the ER Advisors, monitoring the distribution of ER casework and ensuring all cases are being managed correctly in line with policies and best practice, escalating to the Head of ER as necessary
