Job overview
We have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Psychologist with proven interest in neuropsychology to join our Neuropsychology Service. The post involves working with adults who have experienced a stroke and live in the Medway area.
The clinical work is undertaken mostly in clinic settings across the locality.
The post holder would be based at Medway Maritime Hospital with travel to/from Harmony House in Rochester, but would also be expected to travel to patients at their home and to care homes.
The post holder must hold a full, valid, UK driving licence and have access to a car/vehicle to use for business purposes (unless you have a disability as defined by the Equality Act 2010).
Main duties of the job
The post holder will carry out neuropsychological assessments and psychological interventions under the direct supervision of a principal clinical psychologist.
They will also work with other Assistant Psychologists already in post to deliver high-quality and responsive services within Kent.
The Kent Neuropsychology Service provides specialist neuropsychological assessments and cognitive rehabilitation.
There is a strong rehabilitation ethos and clinical psychologists working in the service have interests in a range of therapeutic approaches including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Mindfulness, CBT, CFT, and Systemic Therapy.
Relationships with multidisciplinary colleagues within the Neurorehabilitation Teams are positive and supportive.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Upper second class honours degree (Psychology) conferring eligibility for graduate membership of British Psychology Society
Desirable criteria
- Further related academic study or post-graduate training in psychology or related field
Knowledge & Skills
Essential criteria
- Good theoretical knowledge or willingness to learn about the problems experienced by, and needs of, adult stroke survivors and ways of assessing and treating these
Desirable criteria
- Proficient and confident in administration of a range of neuropsychological assessments.
Relevant experience
Essential criteria
- Post-graduate experience of assessment and treatment of people with a range of psychological needs
Desirable criteria
- Experience of working with people with an acquired brain injury or other neurological conditions.
