Main duties of the job

This is an opportunity to work within a well established,  friendly team supporting the specialist nurses with diagnostics  and cardiac rehabilitation classes, You will work across all cardiology teams,  have a level of autonomy organising your working week and after induction be expected to prioritise unaided, you will be IT literate to input and use patient records and use it systems for diagnostics following training.

  • Take venous blood tests for patients as appropriate( after training).
  • carry out cardiology diagnostic tests in a clinic and home visit 

    You will work across all cardiology teams, you have a level of autonomy organising your working week and after induction be expected to prioritise unaided, you will be IT literate to input and use patient records and use it systems for diagnostics following training. environment such as 24 hour BP monitoring, ECG, event recorder fitting. (full training provided)

  • To assist in phase 3 exercise provision. assessing and monitoring patients, providing education and motivating patients in their rehabilitation.(Full training provided)
  • undertake near patient blood sampling ( finger pricking) to obtain INR reading . (Full training provided)
  • Abide by code of conduct for healthcare support workers.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

You will work across all cardiology teams, supporting current unregistered roles and carrying out phlebotomy for the services.

Once trained you will work unsupervised in some parts of your role which will include visiting patients in their homes and sometimes in clinics as well as in cardiac rehabilitation classes.

You will always have the support of senior staff when required.

Essential criteria
  • • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification
Desirable criteria
  • additional training in community setting

Experience

Essential criteria
  • • Experience of working in a healthcare setting.
Desirable criteria
  • • Previous experience of working in community healthcare.
  • • Previous experience of cardiology setting.
  • • Experience of working with some autonomy.
  • • Experience of working in a team

special knowledge/expertise

Essential criteria
  • • Venepuncture or willingness to undertake.
  • • Have interest in cardiology
Desirable criteria
  • • Venepuncture experience
  • • ECG taking experience
