Clinical Sister/Charge Nurse – Galton  Day Unit

Division: Cancer & Core Clinical Services

Care Group: Cancer Services

Band: 5 to 6 development post

Salary: £31,049 - £46,580 per annum/pro rata

**This is a developmental post Band 5 to 6 post**

We are recruiting for a Clinical Sister/Charge Nurse who shares our ambition and vision to deliver the Best of Care by the Best People and has the drive to take us forward, by ensuring that the Trust continues to be the first choice for patients and our staff.

Prif ddyletswyddau'r swydd

The post holder will have the relevant SACT qualification or currently undergoing a SACT qualification. This is a developmental band 6 post whereas you will be required to meet leadership and managerial objectives to secure the band 6 position.  Objectives will include: Supporting and directing junior chemotherapy trained nurses in both theory and practical administration.

Leading/ co-ordinating and managing a nurse led chemotherapy day unit. 

Liasing directly with multiple cancer pathways to escalate a deteriorating patient. 

Excellent communication skills between multi- disciplinary teams and patients. 

The post holder will work independently / autonomously and at times without direct supervision, accountable for their own professional working in a manner that promotes dignity and human rights through the adoption of person centred care principles.

Responsible for carrying out clinical practice within designated clinical areas, ensuring that high quality, current evidence-based nursing assessment, care planning, implementation, interventions and evaluations for patients is provided from admission through to discharge 

Will be responsible for the application of knowledge across the range of work procedures and practices, underpinned by theoretical knowledge and practical experience 

To act as advocate for patients within the area, to ensure a patient orientated approach to the delivery of care and to meet standards within the NHS Plan and other relevant guidelines

  • RN1/RN2/RN12 or RN Child Registered Nurse on the NMC register
  • To hold the appropriate level for the area of speciality

  • To hold a SACT qualification

Knowledge

  • Have up to date knowledge in cancer care/ chemotherapy practical and theoretical policies

Experience

Skills

  • Manual handling of patients, using lifting aids
  • Competent in basic life support
  • Is able to administer intravenous drug therapy/ or is willing to work towards this
  • Able to manage difficult situations
