We are recruiting for a Diagnostic Radiographer who shares our ambition and vision to deliver the Best of Care by the Best People and has the drive to take us forward, by ensuring that the Trust continues to be the first choice for patients and our staff.

Main duties of the job

     The post-holder will have responsibility for the provision of high quality Radiology images on a range of patients throughout the hospital and local community

·        Duties will include rotating through the General Imaging Department, theatres and across satellite sites

·        The post holder will work on the out of hours rota covering nightshifts and weekends

·         The post holder will be familiar with the Trust values and visions and stay up to date on policies and procedures.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

All band 5 Radiographers rotate throughout the General Imaging Department to include x-ray, Fluoroscopy/theatres and the satellite sites. 

The band 5 role requires commitment to the night and weekend rota. Staff are supported to develop and progress via the Annex T framework and rotation through other modalities is encouraged.

To ascertain patient identity in line with patient ID policy prior to exposure

To be flexible with regard to the rota system, to work the hours required by the department but not exceeding your contracted hours Participation in the provision of a 24 hour service

 To provide for GP’s, Outpatients, Inpatients and the A&E department for appendicular and axial imaging

To participate in alerting the A& E team to fractures by means of the red dot scheme

 Participate in the trust development review process (appraisal) Maintain a high standard of radiographic technique

 Actively take on QA for the equipment in Imaging

Ensure that health and safety and radiation protection legislation is complied with

 To adhere to and encourage other disciplines to acknowledge local rules and IR(ME)R

 Maintain professional knowledge and attend ‘Red Dot’ courses for both Chest and skeletal

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Degree in Diagnostic Radiography or recognised equivalent
  • Registered with the Statutory Board of the Health Professions Council UK

Knowledge
