We are recruiting for a MRI Specialist Radiographer who shares our ambition and vision to deliver the Best of Care by the Best People and has the drive to take us forward, by ensuring that the Trust continues to be the first choice for patients and our staff.
Main duties of the job
The post-holder will have responsibility for the provision of high quality MRI scans within the imaging department limited to the scope of band 6 MRI Specialist Radiographer. Will consider Band 5 training post, link to Band 6 depending on experience.
He/She will be required to maintain a high personal standard of clinical excellence. They will be required to attend training and train other staff as required. In line with the Clinical Governance framework they will seek to continually improve service safety and quality.
The MRI department currently opens between the hours of 07.15 to 20.15 and operates 7 days a week. The role is to work ad hoc shifts as and when required to suit business needs, often to cover busy periods, sickness or annual leave and CDC working.
Previous experience on Siemens MRI scanners is desirable but not essential.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Participate and maintain high quality MRI scanning techniques.
Undertake intravenous hand or injector pump injections under PGD compliance.
Maintain professional knowledge base and status by attending seminars and courses as agreed with the MRI Service Lead.
Complete and maintain all required mandatory training as required.
Conduct and behaviour that is consistent with the trust’s policies and procedures.
Show a caring and responsible attitude towards patients in respect to their dignity, privacy and cultural diversity.
To adhere to, and encourage other disciplines, to acknowledge local rules and MRI safety. Maintain an up to date CPD record keeping up to date with current trends and developments.
Ensure that a smooth and efficient service is maintained in MRI Department reporting any issues that hinder this to the MRI Service Lead.
To ensure that at all times the MRI unit is a safe environment for Patients and Staff by understanding and following local rules specific to MRI.
To be able to achieve high levels of diagnostic outcomes by using experience, knowledge and clinical expertise.
To participate in, and give support for, clinical supervision and the training of students in the MRI Unit.
To be able to review all requests to determine appropriateness and urgency.
To report and log all equipment faults to the MRI Service Lead.
To use their own judgment and adapt technique when required.
To supervise and train junior staff members.
Undertake a lead role, for example; on Clinical or Quality audits and Research as directed by the MRI Service Lead.
To ensure that Images are presented for reporting in a timely and accurate manner
To be flexible with regard to the rota system, to work the hours required by the department.
Person specification
Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Degree in Radiography or recognised equivalent
- Registered with the statutory Board of Health and Care Professions Council
Desirable criteria
- Certificate of IV cannulation is desirable
- Evidence of MRI Scanning over a wide range of MRI exams is desirable
