Please note that any applicants who hold a Specialist Neonatal Qualification will also receive an RNR payment of £1500 per annum/pro rata

As a Clinical Sister/Charge Nurse you will ensure that you are committed to contributing to a team and delivering excellence in neonatal care. We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic, and self-motivated neonatal nurse (RGN/RSCN/Child Branch) with post registration neonatal intensive care qualification to join our friendly experienced team. You will have excellent clinical and communication skills.

Our neonatal nursing team is expanding, and is led by our Head of Nursing for Children and Young People, a Trust wide role to ensure babies and their families receive high quality care wherever they access our services across the organisation. When you come here you will always be learning and developing your knowledge and ensuring your skills are kept fully up to date.

We are a busy District General Hospital (DGH) serving the population of Medway and Swale and Medway was the first Trust in Kent to achieve foundation trust status in April 2008. Our children’s emergency department has an annual attendance of over 30,000 babies, children and young people living locally.

You will be supported by Clinical Nurse Educator, Advanced Neonatal Nurse Practitioners and Governance managers, together with a friendly multidisciplinary team and a corporate training and development team. We have in house leadership programmes and work with a range of universities to ensure you can progress through academic pathways in order to support your career development.

Provide strong clinical leadership skills, supporting, energising, inspiring and empowering others in pursuit of a shared vision to ensure the effective management of the ward /department

To deputise, assist and support the Senior Sister / Senior Charge Nurse in the establishment of an efficient working environment, making the most effective and efficient use of staff, supplies and services

In co-ordinating the day-to-day management of the clinical area, delegates duties and care appropriately, whilst maintaining overall responsibility

Qualifications

Meini prawf hanfodol
  • RN1/RN2/RN12 or RN Child Registered Nurse on the NMC register.
  • BSc / 1st degree (health related) or equivalent qualification / training / experience
  • Specialist Neonatal Qualification
  • Mentorship / teaching qualification

Knowledge

Meini prawf hanfodol
  • Knowledge in Neonatal Intensive Care cases and interventions
  • Knowledge of Family Integrated Care and BFI
  • Knowledge neonatal EPR systems such as Badgernet

Experience

  • Proven experience on managing a ward; including management of rotas, managing competencies, resources and staff
  • Experience of teaching / assessing / supervising others in a clinical setting
  • Substantial experience in neonatal intensive care nursing

Skills

  • Able to assess plan, implement and evaluate specialist care delivered to patients / clients and give relevant advice / information to patients and relatives
  • Ability to administer prescribed medication including transfusion of blood and administration of blood products
