Early Years Foundation Stage Lead - Nursery

We are looking for a qualified, experienced and dedicated Early Years Foundation Stage Lead to join our friendly yet professional team. Tiny Tugs Medway NHS Foundation Trust Day Nursery cares for children aged 6 months to 5 years in a purpose-built day nursery setting located conveniently on the hospital site for Trust employees. An exciting opportunity to offer a highly motivated individual with previous experience at senior nursery practitioner level who is looking to further their leadership skills and knowledge and join our well-established team of dedicated early years professionals, who take an holistic approach to learning and place every child at the centre of what they do to achieve the best outcomes.

 

Prif ddyletswyddau'r swydd

To deputise the nursery in the absence of the nursery manager and or deputy ensuring that adult to child ratios are maintained at or above Ofsted guidelines and that there are sufficient qualified staff on duty at all times to provide care for children in the day nursery.

The post holder will participate in effective day to day service delivery, which includes staffing rotation, planning staff breaks and ensuring adequate resources such as laundry, milk, and catering supplies.

To keep up to date with current developments, initiatives and practices in teaching and learning for children in the early years.

To work alongside the manager and deputy in implementing policies and procedures and the standards that schools and childcare providers must meet for the learning, development and care of children from birth to 5 years as set out in the Early years Foundation Stage Statutory Framework.

Swydd-ddisgrifiad a phrif gyfrifoldebau manwl

The post holder will along with the manager and deputy in plan and organise termly training and development sessions for the staff team.

To train new staff in the Early Years Foundation Stage and delivery of the EYFS curriculum as part of induction.

To ensure that individual child progress records are kept updated by keypersons and the information reflects the learning outcomes for the child..

To along with the manager and deputy lead the staff team in the teaching of an ambitious and impactful early years curriculum, adapting to the needs of individual children in line with The Early Years Foundation Stage Framework and Development Matters – Non statutory curriculum guidance for the early years.

Be an advocate for early years and an excellent role model of best practice to all staff, seeking new ways to deliver effective teaching and learning outcomes for children in the early years.

To support the manager and deputy with coaching and mentoring the staff team ensuring opportunities for individual professional development through a robust appraisal process and providing regular feedback through one to one meetings.

To be responsible for designated tasks as delegated by the Nursery Manager such as and not limited to raising orders for equipment, catering supplies, adding/updating data to the nursery management software system, managing risks and reporting maintenance issues.

To be a Designated Safeguarding Lead working alongside the nursery manager and deputy in reviewing and implementing the safeguarding policy and the statuatory requirements of the Early years Foundation Stage. Ensuring effective written and verbal communication with outside agencies such as social care colleagues and attendance at case conferences.

To ensure effective partnership working with parents and families of young children which includes at times occasional difficult conversations relating to safeguarding, children’s development, progress, behaviour and individual needs.

Ensure that accidents, incidents or complaints are dealt with following correct policies and procedures and are brought to the attention of the Nursery Manager.

To work alongside the nursery manager and deputy in the drive for continuous development and improvement of the service and ensuring that a good outcome for Ofsted is fulfilled and maintained with aspirations to gain an outstanding outcome.

  • Minimum NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Early Years
  • Grade C or above in English and Maths

Experience

  • Proven experience in an early years setting working with children six months to five years old
  • Experience of working at a room leader/senior nursery practitioner level
