This role will lead the design, delivery and sustainability of the organisational professional development and learning services aligned to strategic priorities and objectives.
The post holder will lead the integration and delivery of the Organisational Development (OD) and Learning and Development (L&D) plans incorporated within the Trusts People Strategy to ensure delivery of system wide strategic priorities that optimise workforce capability in delivering the best possible care.
Main duties of the job
This is a combined Learning & Development (L&D) and Organisational Development (OD) leadership role. Applicants must be able to demonstrate considerable experience and expertise across both disciplines to meet the essential requirements for this post.
Lead the implementation of organisational effectiveness that improves business performance and embeds strategic changes in day-to-day practice, through effective change management processes and leadership.
Design and lead the learning and development function.
Design and implement a tailored leadership and management development offer aligned to the Trust’s values, People Plan and future leadership capability requirements.
Conduct OD and Learning diagnostics and design interventions to ensure improvement of organisational capability, capacity and effectiveness and measure and monitor shifts in performance.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Degree in management or other relevant field or equivalent experience
- Designed/delivered bespoke training and development interventions in the area of OD, management and leadership development in a large, complex organisation
- Membership of the CIPD or similar professional body
Desirable criteria
- Qualified coach
- Assessor and Internal Verifier qualification
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Deep understanding of OD theory and practice, with knowledge of the psychology of change, individual and organisational behaviour and group dynamics
- Designed/delivered bespoke training and development interventions in the area of OD, management and leadership development in a large, complex organisation
- Knowledge of employee engagement theory and current practice
- Knowledge of research, audit, data collection and analysis methodologies and producing complex reports
Desirable criteria
- Knowledge of contemporary issues in the NHS and its change management agenda
Experience
Essential criteria
- Demonstratable experience in an OD, leadership or learning role within a complex organisation
- Experience of talent management and succession planning
- Experience of designing and delivering leadership and management training programmes
- Experience of implementing large- and small-scale organisational development interventions, with evidence of improvement outcomes
Desirable criteria
- Experience of budget management

Essential criteria
- Competent in the application of OD tools & techniques
- First class interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain credibility at all levels
- Thrives on change and passionate about improving organisation performance
- Ability to analyse and interpret complex information and to present this to senior clinicians and management colleagues
- Flexible and willing to commit to achieving results and meeting deadlines
