Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will provide Obsteric and Gynaecology service at Medway and support the on-call rota for obstetric and gynaecology emergencies. A formal job plan will be agreed between the appointee and the Clinical Director , within 3 months commencement of the date of appointment.
This will be signed off by the Chief Executive officer and will be effective from commencement of the appointment. The job plan will be reviewed annually following the Appraisal meeting and prospective agreement that sets out a consultant’s duties, responsibilities and objectives for the coming year.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
- Category A on call rota:
o The candidate is expected to contribute to on-call Obstetric Rota. 2.2 PA for on-call cover 1:20 weekdays and 1:20 weekends (resident on-call (08:30-22:00)
o Predictable Weekdays 1.0PA, Weekends 0.2PAs Weekdays non-predictable 0.2 PAs Weekend non-predictable 0.2 PAs .
o The job plan will attract an extra 5% on-call supplement (Category A).
o On-site resident on-call from 08:30-2130. Off-site on-call from 21:30 till next morning (24 hours in total). There is no prospective cover.Therefore, you need to swap your on-call if you wish to take it as annual leave.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- - Full GMC registration with license to practice
- - MRCOG or equivalent qualification
- - On the specialist register or within six months of having CCT at the time of AAC
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- - Knowledge about risk management and clinical governance
- - Knowledge of appraising performance & dealing with poor performance
- - Experience of teaching junior medical staff.
- - Evidence of involvement in teaching and education
Experience
Essential criteria
- - Experience in running a high risk/busy antennal clinics
- - Ability to work independently in clinics, theatres and on-call
- - Experience in Gynaecological surgery ( ATSM in benign gynaecology surgery desirable)
