We are recruiting for a Team Lead Physiotherapist who shares our ambition and vision to deliver the Best of Care by the Best People and have the drive to take us forward, by ensuring that the Trust continues to be the first choice for patients and our staff.

Main duties of the job

To work as part of an integrated therapy team, consisting of Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists and Therapy Assistants in order to provide excellent therapy care to children and their families

To ensure that you provide timely assessments and interventions to a variety of patient’s within our inpatient and outpatient oncology services, including respiratory, orthopaedic, rheumatology and mental health patients. 

You will be provided with training and development opportunities to support your progress in this specialist role. Please note that this role will also involve some clinical work and management across the neurological therapy team.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

To be professional and legally responsible and accountable for all aspects of your own work including the management of patients in your care. To ensure a high standard of clinical care for the patients under your management, and support more junior staff to do likewise, taking over the care of more complex patents where appropriate

To interpret and analyse clinical and non-clinical facts from a wide range of sources to form accurate diagnosis and prognoses in a wide range of highly complex conditions, to recommend the best course of intervention, and to develop comprehensive discharge plans

To undertake the comprehensive assessment of patients, including those with a complex presentation, using investigative and analytical skills, and to formulate individualised management and treatment plans, using clinical reasoning, and utilising a wide range or treatment skills and options to formulate a specialised programme of care

To provide the specialist physiotherapy input to any outpatient and follow up clinics as required

Person specification

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Degree/Diploma in Professional Field
  • Current Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
  • Evidence of relevant post-graduate courses/CPD to Masters Level
  • CSP membership

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Communicating with patients and a wide range of health care professionals
  • Knowledge of work procedures and practices
  • Evidence of specialist oncology services

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Relevant experience including broad range of clinical experience
  • Experience in handling and communicating sensitive information
  • Experience in health, acute hospital or social care setting
  • Experience of carrying out assessment and treatment in the context of complex medical and psychological problems where there are likely to be conflicting expert opinions

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Able to communicate with a wide range of professionals and the public
  • Able to work collaboratively within an MDT
  • Ability to pass on skills and knowledge to others within both formal and informal environments
