Job overview
Please note, at this stage, the role is open only to internal staff (including NHSP and Agency staff currently on placement within our organisation) and staff substantively employed within Kent and Medway NHS Trusts and the Kent and Medway Integrated Care Board (ICB). Any individual who is at risk of redundancy will be given priority, provided they meet the essential criteria.
Delivering high-quality resuscitation training and ensuring compliance with resuscitation equipment across all KMMH locations.
This is primarily a teaching role, aimed at equipping healthcare staff with the skills and confidence to manage medical emergencies, including cardiac arrests and deteriorating patients.
The post holder will conduct resuscitation and deterioration simulation activities, maintain resuscitation equipment standards, and travel between multiple sites to provide comprehensive support and training.
As KMMH is a mental health trust, resuscitation training and response are tailored for staff who may not frequently encounter medical emergencies. Simulation scenarios may also include situations relevant to mental health settings, such as deterioration due to self-harm. Recognising that such scenarios can be challenging and potentially distressing, the post holder will ensure that training and debriefing are conducted with sensitivity and consideration for staff well-being.
In addition, the post holder will support the implementation of trust-wide and departmental policies and procedures related to resuscitation and patient safety.
They will work collaboratively with colleagues to foster a culture of teamwork, innovation, and high-quality care, promoting strong working relationships that enhance patient safety and ensure best practices across all KMMH locations
Main duties of the job

- Provide education on early recognition and management of deteriorating patients.
- Use simulation-based methods and practical assessments to build staff confidence.

- Deputise for the Band 7 Resuscitation Officer when required.
- Support staff development through supervision and appraisals.
- Contribute to policy development, audits, and service improvement initiatives.
- Engage with stakeholders and maintain digital training resources.
The post holder must hold a full, valid, UK driving licence and have access to a car/vehicle to use for business purposes (unless you have a disability as defined by the Equality Act 2010).
