Job overview
Please note, at this stage, the role is open only to internal staff (including NHSP and Agency staff currently on placement within our organisation) and staff substantively employed within Kent and Medway NHS Trusts and the Kent and Medway Integrated Care Board (ICB). An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Kent and Medway Mental Health NHS Trust Financial Management team.
We are looking to attract an excellent candidate to our team to ensure that we provide high quality performance reporting services to the Trust Board and Operational Leaders. Reporting to the Associate Director of Finance (Financial Management), this is a fantastic opportunity for candidates with an abundance of Financial Management experience, looking to make the next step in their career.
In order to succeed in this role, you will be highly motivated, possess excellent communication skills, have a strong understanding of finance within the NHS and the ability to engage with a range of stakeholders, including clinical and non-clinical staff, to drive the financial agenda within the Trust.
Main duties of the job
- Your role will be essential in ensuring that the Trust receives value adding financial expertise, information and support in relation to monthly expenditure and income.
- You will be the lead for the Directorate, working closely with managers at all levels to ensure robust budget
management is in place. - You will support on costing as required, as well as focus on efficiency opportunities and delivery of programmes as part of the Trust sustainability agenda.

The role of the Financial Management team is fundamental to providing financial and business information and advice to Directorates, support
services and managers across the Trust.
Every single member of staff has the patient in mind and our role within this enables staff to deliver against their operational and financial
objectives, releasing funding within the organisation to invest in front line services and improve the quality of patient care.

Knowledge
Essential criteria
- In depth knowledge of NHS accounting policies and procedures
- In depth knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, financial systems and costing methodologies
- Knowledge of developing and reporting cost improvement schemes
Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience of strong involvement in delivering excellence in financial reporting
- Extensive finance experience, including minimum 4 years financial management experience
- Experience of successfully partnering operational services
Desirable criteria
- Experience of using SBS
Skills
Essential criteria
- Able to interpret and analyse highly complex financial and statistical data
- Able to meet tight deadlines and organise oneself under pressure
Training, Qualifications and Registration
Essential criteria
- AAT Qualified
- Evidence of continuous professional development relevant to financial management
Desirable criteria
- Actively studying for CCAB accountancy qualification or equivalent

The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
