Job overview

The role of Estates Manager supports people using our services by ensuring our buildings are safe and warm environments to work in, visit and be treated. 

The Estates Manager oversees all building related operations of a public estate, managing staff and contractors, coordinating maintenance & repairs, handling budgets & finances, planning and approving works, and liaising with clinical colleagues to ensure smooth, efficient, and secure property management.

You’ll also contribute to service improvements and help us live our values every day.

You will be the main representative and operational point of contact between site based colleagues and the wider support function.

Main duties of the job

  • To contribute to delivering the Trust’s estates strategy by assisting in the
  • evaluation of site and usage options and proposing creative and inspiring
  • suggestions for improvements
  • To develop strong and positive working relationships with clinical colleagues to maximise the potential of the estate and its development
  • Ensure that the fabric and fixtures and fittings of the estate is maintained to a high standard and meets the Trust’s current and future needs
  • Ensure daily and short-term maintenance of all areas of the Estate. This will involve both reactive maintenance and prioritising a short, medium and long term maintenance programme
  •  To ensure appropriate safeguarding and health and safety compliance and that all risk assessments and contractor safety checks are carried out
  • Build and amend reports and data dashboards as required to meet business needs and contractual process

The post holder must hold a full, valid, UK driving licence and have access to a car/vehicle to use for business purposes (unless you have a disability as defined by the Equality Act 2010).

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

· Carry out monitoring of data to ensure that Helpdesk work orders have been accurately created, assigned, prioritised and categorised in line with contractual KPI's and SLA's

·  Support Estates and Facilities Teams in the production of customer satisfaction surveys and the analysis/reporting of responses

· Update and maintain key contractual documentation and records as required 

Ensure services are delivered safely and in line with the requirements of the Health and Safety

Person specification

Training, Qualifications and Registration

Essential criteria
  • Full UK Driving Licence and access to a motor vehicle
  • Certification to level 5 or above in Facilities/Estates Management
  • Professional Body Membership and evidence of CPD
Desirable criteria
  • A degree or professional qualification in Facilities Management, Surveying, Construction, Property Management, or Building Services

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience in operational and facilities management
  • Experience of working effectively with staff and management at all levels
  • Experience of liaising effectively with building users, external consultants and external contractors
  • Experience of contract management
  • Experience of basic building maintenance and providing facilities services within business premises
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working at a Estates Management level within the NHS

Knowledge and Skills

Essential criteria
  • Excellent organisational skills with an ability to plan, prioritise and meet deadlines
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Good level of IT skills (Microsoft Office products)
  • Knowledge of relevant Health and Safety legislation/regulations with proven ability to manage and monitor
