Junior Sister/ Charge Nurse

Band 6

A vacancy has arisen for a Junior Sister in the Accident and Emergency department at Maidstone Hospital; however the flexibility to be able to work at Tunbridge Wells Hospital, Pembury at times would be an essential.

As the successful applicant, as well as having four years A&E experience, you will have good written and verbal communication skills along with knowledge of IT systems. You will also be required to manage the department on a day to day basis. You should therefore have the ability to organise and use your initiative, and be able to solve problems and contribute new ideas within a multi-disciplinary team.

You should have excellent leadership skills as you will be required to lead junior members of the team. You should also possess the skills required to undertake clinical activity related to specialities.

A minimum of two years A&E experience and evidence of degree level study is required together with management experience relevant to the post. Permanent contracts and secondments considered.

You will be expected to attend the Trust’s Induction Programme for RNs, RMs and ODPs (which starts on the first day of employment).  The programme is full-time (please contact the programme lead if this is problematic: nicola.henthorn@nhs.net), lasts for two weeks and will involve travelling to both Trust sites. The programme includes supernumerary shifts in the clinical area and classroom-based study days which run from 9am to 5pm.

Please note that appointment to this post will be subject to a satisfactory Disclosure & Barring Service Check at enhanced level. (Enhanced level now includes regulated checks against vulnerable adults and children)

Closing Date: Thursday 1st March 2018
