Do you enjoy working with people and have a passion for nutrition and its importance in health and wellbeing? Are you ready for a new challenge? If so, this is an ideal opportunity for you to join the friendly and supportive stroke dietetic team at the Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust.
This post is based in the specialist stroke services at our Hyper-Acute, Acute and Rehabilitation services based in Maidstone and Tonbridge Cottage hospitals. You would join our team of 3 stroke dietitians and wider network of 23 dietitians and 4 assistants in the Trust. We work closely with the diverse and inclusive stroke MDT including SLTs, physiotherapists, OTs, nurses and medics.
We are looking for a self-motivated individual with strong communication and team-working skills who is committed to improving the nutrition experience of our patients. A formal nutrition qualification and/or experience of working in a hospital or caring environment are desirable but not essential. We will provide a comprehensive induction programme and training to enable you to develop the appropriate skills and knowledge.

Main duties of the job
To work with registered dietitians to manage the nutritional needs of adult patients at the Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells Hospitals and Stroke patients at Sevenoaks Hospital. To provide MUST training to Ward staff.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- English Language and Maths GCSE (or equivalent)
- A Level or NVQ Level 3 (or above) or equivalent qualification in relevant area
Desirable criteria
- Completion of healthcare related qualification / training programme
- Completion of nutrition related qualification
Experience/Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Background knowledge of nutrition and its role in health and disease
- Experience of working in a caring / NHS environment, or equivalent
- Experience of working as part of a team
- Experience of self-directed working
Desirable criteria
- Previous experience working as a therapy or health care assistant within the NHS
- Experience of working in a nutrition related field
- Awareness of the importance of nutrition screening tools e.g. MUST
Skills
Essential criteria
- Good oral and written communication skills with people from a wide variety of backgrounds
- Good interpersonal skills including observation, listening and empathy skills
- Ability to prioritise and manage own workload
- Good organisational skills
- Good presentation skills, both written and verbal

Desirable criteria
- Experience of using dietary analysis packages
