Job overview

The Trauma & Orthopaedic department at Maidstone is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Junior Clinical Fellow to join their friendly and dedicated team.  This is a fixed-term post that will initially be offered for a period of 12 months.

You'll need a can-do attitude and a strong commitment to high-quality, compassionate patient care to join our service.  In return, we can offer you a role as part of our growing multi-disciplinary team, where you'll be supported to further develop your skills and experience delivering care to patients with a wide range of Orthopaedic conditions in our brand new Kent and Medway Orthopaedic Centre (KMOC) , based at Maidstone hospital. There will also be some need focross-sitete working at Tunbridge Wells Hospital. 

Main duties of the job

The Trauma & Orthopaedic junior clinical fellow role (JCF) will be based at Maidstone General Hospital. The main function of the role is to assist the team in the care of elective Orthopaedic patients. This will include supporting day cases and inpatients within KMOC.  The post will be varied and will provide the opportunity to gain a wide range of experience whilst working as part of the multi-disciplinary team.  Wherever possible, work will be pre-planned and timetabled to best serve the needs of the service whilst supporting professional development for all members of the team.  

Good communication and inter-personal skills are essential in this role,e and the post-holder will be expected to exhibit high standards of communication with patients, theirsupporter ss as well as all members of the multi-disciplinary team,eam as multi-professional team-working forms the basis of our patient-centred service.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Assessment of trauma and major and minor orthopaedic patients, with the supervision of senior clinical staff.  It is expected that the post-holders will develop their skills in the sub-speciality interests of the consultant firms and trauma. Care of patients on the ward,s ensuring patient flow and discharge planning.

  • GMC Registration
  • MBBS or equivalent

Experience

  • 1 year full time SHO experience in the UK
Desirable criteria
  • Previous experience in a large hospital setting
