COVID-19 Vacancy Mental Health Practitioner

We are setting up a new Psychological Service to support and improve the mental wellbeing of our workforce.  As a new service we are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced mental health practitioner to help establish this new role and service within the Occupational Health Department.  The successful candidate can be from a RGN / RMN, Psychotherapist or Counselling profession with the relevant and appropriate experience for the role.  The service will essentially be a Monday to Friday role and we can be flexible around the days and hours worked and would equally expect the candidate to have some flexibility for out of hours or weekend working if required.

The Opportunity...
To continue the development of a high quality psychological service delivering both preventative and reactive psychological support to staff within the Trust.  The role will include undertaking assessments to support and advise the Occupational Health Team in managing mental health within the workplace; formulating and implementing psychological interventions and management plans for individuals and teams.  There will also be elements of education and awareness training on identifying, managing and supporting mental wellbeing for Managers and staff of the Trust alike.

You will work as part of an established team consisting of Occupational Health Nurses and Physicians to create a wider multidisciplinary service.

You will have a key role in supporting the implementation of individual and group psychological programmes.

You will support the clinical supervision of Psychological First Aiders. You will also have involvement in audit, policy, service development and the assessment and interpretation of outcomes.
As a member of the psychological department, there will be considerable opportunity for further professional development through access to various CPD activities/events and research.

It is planned that this service will become a permanent and substantive function of the Trust creating the opportunity for the post holder to apply for the fixed term contract to become permanent.

You will be expected to attend the Trust’s Induction Programme for RNs, RMs and ODPs (which starts on the first day of employment).  The programme is full-time (please contact the programme lead if this is problematic: nicola.henthorn@nhs.net), lasts for two weeks and will involve travelling to both Trust sites. The programme includes supernumerary shifts in the clinical area and classroom-based study days which run from 9am to 5pm.
