A new opportunity has arisen to join the Medical Education Team in Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells Hospitals as a Simulation and Clinical Skills Practitioner. The role of simulation in healthcare is growing and it is an exciting time to be involved in the development of this area of education and service improvement.

Main duties of the job
The Simulation and Clinical Skills Practitioner will be involved in the delivery of education and training for multi-professional clinical staff working within the Trust as well as Postgraduate and Undergraduate Students on clinical placement. This will include clinical skills and scenario-based simulation training. Working with the Simulation Leads, Facilitators and Fellows the post holder will be involved in planning, developing and delivering a variety of courses as required to meet the demands of the service. The role also encompasses the management and support of the Simulation Technicians.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Professional health care qualification with up to date professional registration (e.g. NMC, HCPC)
- Postgraduate Cert or evidence of postgraduate study
- Completed or undertaking a first level degree in healthcare
- Evidence of continued professional development
Desirable criteria
- Mental Health First Aider
- Mentor/practice assessor qualification or equivalent.
Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience delivering training to individuals or groups
- Experience of mentoring/ teaching/ assessing
- Experience and competency in clinical procedural skills
Desirable criteria
- Experience delivering Simulation/ clinical skills training
- Evidence of leadership / change management /quality improvement
- AIMS or ALERT course or similar
Skills
Essential criteria
- Proven ability of managing and supporting staff/students
- Excellent written communication
- Advanced IT skills including proven abilities in using Microsoft Office Applications
- Excellent planning and organisational
- Ability to explain complex situations and sensitive information and respond in an appropriate and confidential manner
- Teaching and facilitation skills
Desirable criteria
- Evidence of clinical skills competence e.g. catheterisation, IV access, NG tube insertion
- Evidence of planning, implementing and evaluating education programmes
