Admin Support Secretary, Cardiology

Band 2

Job overview

This role provides admin support to the Fast Track Angina Clinic team and cardiology secretaries, to ensure patients’ correspondence is delivered in line with the Trust’s targets, via the digital dictation system.  This requires someone who is well organised, a team player and has great communication skills and attention to detail.

Main duties of the job

Type all clinical letters and other correspondence as required.  Proactively take forward any instructions from the medical team following clinic consultations ie. ensure patients are booked for follow up appointments, referrals for investigations etc.  Update and monitor the PTL to ensure a smooth patient pathway.   Check clinics are cached up correctly after the clinic.

Deal effectively and courteously with all enquiries from GPs, patients and other departments within the service and within the overall Trust.  Ensure all enquiries are dealt with effectively, and proactively manage these enquiries to ensure a safe and smooth pathway for our patients.

Support the operational team to facilitate a reduction in the overall patient’s journey which would assist in the delivery of the 18 week target and ultimately improve patient care.

Organise investigations and procedures for patients as authorised, both within the Trust and outside the Trust, initiating IPPT forms as appropriate.

Working for our organisation

We have a new way of working at East Kent Hospitals, called 'We care'. It's about empowering frontline staff to lead improvements day-to-day. We're looking for compassionate people to be part of our improvement journey for the patients, families and carers we care for every day.
