Gynae-Oncology Research Nurse

Band 6

Job overview

East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust (EKHUFT) is a large, diverse and complex organisation with an active and vibrant research and innovation department.  An exciting opportunity is available for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our busy cancer research team in East Kent.

We are looking to appoint a Gynae-Oncology Research Nurse to support our team, which currently carries out a large portfolio of cancer studies conducted within the Trust.

The post will be based at Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother Hospital in Margate, but the post-holder will also work across other sites within the Trust.

Previous research experience, along with experience of working within gynaecology and/or oncology are essential for this post.  Other essential requirements include excellent communication & organisational skills,  meticulous attention to detail and the ability to work both as part of a team and independently.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will provide clinical research support to various departments conducting research within the Trust with a particular focus on gynae-oncology research. This will include taking responsibility for the co-ordination and facilitation of concurrent research studies. In addition to the clinic/patient-based tasks, this role includes document generation and control, project tracking and logistics, data collection, adherence to Good Clinical Practice and research governance and assisting in the continued improvement in the care of research participants and quality of research data.

Due to the nature of research and potential fluctuations in study demands and/or workload and staffing levels, it may be necessary for the post holder to cover additional specialties and/or sites as required, therefore flexibility is essential

Working for our organisation

The Trust’s vision is ‘great healthcare from great people’. Embedding research is fundamental to empowering staff to lead improvements and inspire healthcare change. Our vision is to embed research in all of our clinical services and, in doing so, offer better healthcare for patients.

Research and Innovation leads to better care and outcomes for our patients and therefore we want to place it at the heart of everything that we do. We aim to build a dynamic, patient-centred, world class research portfolio, offering all patients opportunities to participate in studies of the latest treatments and therapies; ensuring East Kent Hospitals’ position at the cutting edge of health care.

Applications for this role should be written by the applicant. If artificial intelligence (AI) programmes are used then the application may be rejected due to this document being an important part of the assessment process. This does not prevent applicants seeking appropriate support with applications should they need to for the purposes of any declared disability.

Please note that if you require a Certificate of Sponsorship to work in the UK you must declare this on your application form, even if you currently have a certificate of sponsorship or a work permit for another role and are already working in the country. Please note we are only able to sponsor candidates on a Skilled Worker Visa applying for roles Band 5 and above.
