Occupational Therapist - Band 7

£51,883 - £58,544 per annum inclusive of Hcas

The post holders will promote independence by utilising rehabilitation and enablement interventions, working collaboratively with a vast range of key health and social care teams and services within the community, as well as voluntary and public sector providers, to ensure the successful delivery of the Home Pathway Service in Bromley 

Your role will encompass completing complex assessment and treatment plans, developing and leading group education and treatment, and Occupational & physiotherapy service development. The post will primarily involve working with elderly patients and their families with a focus on goal-orientated discharge planning within their homes.  

Band 6 occupational therapists with previous rehab and rotational experience are welcome to apply as this will be a supported position.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The successful applicant will be supported and upskilled to gain experience in a leadership role to include the following responsibilities;  

  • Co-running Home Pathway with service lead and band 7 PT.  

  • Supervision of junior staff (Nursing Rehabilitation Assistants), PT’s and OT’s.

  • Individual caseload management and supervision of team caseload management.  

  • Completing return to work and managing sickness as per policy. 

  • Carrying out detailed and timely appraisals in keeping with KPI’s 

  • Co-lead on the coordination of all discharges from the Home Pathway Team 

  • Lead on therapy input in the weekly consultant-led MDT.  

  • The post holder will be expected to streamline processes to support efficiency within the Home Pathway 

  • Service development; a review of current occupational therapy services and an innovative approach to developing new aspects of the service. 

  • Lead on competency training for nursing rehabilitation assistants and therapy staff  

  • Completing Audits  

  • Supporting patient allocations with the admin team and reviewing new patients in the service.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Diploma or Degree in Occupational Therapy.

Professional Registration

Essential criteria
  • HCPC registration
Desirable criteria
  • Member of the RCOT.

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Good awareness of a range of clinical conditions and their management
  • Research, teaching and leadership skills.
Desirable criteria
  • Knowledge of additional specialist areas through in-house training & short courses.
  • Educators training.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience in previous rotational post or community-based position
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of leading a team

Information Technology

Essential criteria
  • Ability to use Microsoft word, excel and power point.
