Job overview

We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Radiographer/ Technologist to join our busy and friendly Nuclear Medicine teams at Maidstone & Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust.  The Nuclear Medicine service receives approximately 3000 referrals every year. You must have exceptional standards and consistently deliver the highest quality patient-focused care.   

Our Nuclear departments have two GE SPECT/CT, which are staffed by 7 Radiographers/Technologists and 3 Consultant Radiologists. Advanced practice is encouraged, and we undertake Radiographer-led cardiac stressing.  Cross-site working will be part of the role. 

The core working hours of the department are 8am - 8pm Monday to Friday, and a flexible approach to working patterns is essential. Maidstone Hospital is a large Oncology centre, and many of the patients are referred for NM imaging and treatments.  We also undertake cardiac and general imaging and therapies. Pembury Hospital is a modern PFI and carries out all aspects of general nuclear medicine, including paediatrics.

Main duties of the job

The main duties of this job include:

  • Coordinating and leading Nuclear Medicine activity at the Pembury Site.
  • To line manage a diverse group of staff at the Pembury site.
  • To provide excellent patient care and be a point of expert advice.
  • To be a key part of the cross-site Nuclear Medicine management team.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • BSc Radiography or equivalent Post Graduate Qualification in Nuclear Medicine or equivalent
  • HPC Registration or equivalent
  • CPD portfolio evidence
  • IV cannulation course
Desirable criteria
  • Nuclear Medicine Advanced Practice Qualification

Experience/Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Minimum 5 years post qualification experience of clinical nuclear medicine.
  • Experience of management at department level.
  • Ability to operate gamma cameras and ancillary nuclear medicine equipment including computer workstations.
  • Experience of student teaching and supervision.
  • Up to date knowledge of nuclear medicine departments /other hospital protocols and practices.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills liaising with staff internally and externally.
  • Decision making skills. Ability to motivate others
  • Ability to lead and work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
Desirable criteria
  • Local knowledge within Trust.
  • Experience in sentinel node localisation procedures.
