Main duties of the job

 The children’s therapy team is now recruiting an assistant therapy practitioner to work in clinic, schools and in the community alongside occupational therapists, school nurses and community nurses. You will be delivering support to children with on-going needs specifically those requiring support with behaviour, sleep and continence and children who are referred to our neurodiversity pathway. This will be an excellent opportunity to further develop your interest in working with children with social, behavioural and developmental needs.

To work as a member of the Child Health Service Therapy Team undertaking highly skilled and specific interventions to children in their own homes, clinic, nurseries, children centres and schools in the Medway locality without the direct supervision or presence of a professionally qualified member of the team

 

To  delegated treatment programmes and provide appropriate advice to families and carers in a variety of settings. 

 
 

In conjunction with the therapists, organise and run clinics and groups. 

 

 We are a large multi-agency team, who work together to offer children an integrated approach to therapy, through holistic assessments and intervention. You will have access to in-house training and we will offer regular clinical supervision to help you develop your skills.

 To undertake related administrative duties taking responsibility for organising defined specific areas of work and maintaining databases.

  • Minimum 2 years experience working with children with additional needs
Desirable criteria
  • Experience working with multi-disciplinary health team

Knowledge

  • Knowledge and understanding of neurodiverse conditions

  • Understanding of sensory processing presentations

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Good communication skills with ability to adapt communication style

  • Good IT skills to enable use of Powerpoint and Electronic note system
