Job overview

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Physiotherapist to join our dedicated therapy team within the West Kent community hospitals. Based primarily at Tonbridge Cottage Hospital which delivers care across the NOF pathway, frailty, and a range of orthopaedic and medical conditions.

You may also provide cover at our Hawkhurst and Tenterden sites when required. Working alongside physiotherapists, occupational therapists and therapy assistants, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality, person centred rehabilitation to inpatients with diverse needs. This role offers the opportunity to collaborate with local partners to enhance patient care, contribute to safe and timely discharges, and support continuous improvement initiatives, all within a friendly and supportive multi-disciplinary environment.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will be HCPC registered with relevant post-graduate experience, able to work both autonomously and as part of a team, and confident in supporting junior colleagues and therapy assistants.

Good IT, written and verbal communication skills are important to liaise with a wide range of healthcare professions, the patients and their carers. 

You will demonstrate clinical competence, flexibility and a proactive approach, with the ability to travel between sites in a timely manner. Applicants must already hold the right to work in the UK prior to applying.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Degree or diploma in Physiotherapy
  • Current HCPC registration
  • Evidence of updated post graduate training/CPD
Desirable criteria
  • Current practice educator qualification

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Evidence of postgraduate clinical experience
  • Evidence of working with adults & older people in relation to physical rehabilitation
  • Evidence of working in a multidisciplinary team
Desirable criteria
  • Clinical experience within the NHS
  • Experience of supervising Therapy assistants and/or junior staff

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Up to date knowledge of evidence-based practice
  • Knowledge & understanding of NICE guidelines and relevant NSFs
  • Knowledge of advanced moving & handling techniques (e.g. hoist assessment)
  • Knowledge of specialist equipment and adaptations
Desirable criteria
  • Understanding of current Health and Social Services agenda

Skills & Abilities

  • Understanding of training needs in relation to post
  • Ability to manage time effectively, priorities and work under pressure to meet deadlines
