Job overview

4 shifts of 9.75 hours per week over 6 days Monday to Friday.

To support the scrub in theatre, circulating for surgical procedures, as well as endoscopy and stock ordering.

Main duties of the job

Attend morning safety brief at 08.00.

Prepare theatre for surgery, including cleaning and sourcing equipment. Within scope of role.

Responsibility for stock checking of dates in line with policy.

Support scrub team with requirements throughout surgical list. Complete relevant paperwork and IT systems.

Follow MTW policies and procedures.

All successful applicants will be required to complete our corporate trust induction once a start date had been agreed.

Following your corporate induction you will be expected to attend the Trust’s Clinical Induction Programme for Healthcare Support Workers (which starts on the first day of employment). The programme is full-time (please contact the CSW Induction Programme Lead if you have any issues: [email protected]), lasts for two weeks and will involve travelling to both Trust sites. The programme includes two supernumerary shifts in the clinical area (an early and a late shift), all of the other days are classroom-based and run from 9am to 5pm.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Training Basic standard of education including Maths and English Grade C GCSE or equlivent or willingness to complete Functional Skills Level 2 on appointment Willingness to complete ‘The Care certificate’ for healthcare workers
Desirable criteria
  • Completed National ‘Care Certificate’ for Healthcare workers.

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Good verbal, literacy and communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain accurate and legible records.
  • Computer literate (use of IT software packages e.g. Word, Email)

  • Understanding of manual handling practices and policies.
  • Awareness of Health and Safety
