Practice Development Support

Band 4

Maidstone & Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust delivers maternity care to over 5900 women per year. We are proud of our excellent facilities which offer women real choice in place of birth, with 2 Midwifery Led Birthing Centres offering care to women with low risk pregnancies, whilst the Tunbridge Wells Hospital at Pembury offers both midwifery and obstetric care for women whose pregnancies are both low and high risk.  We achieve 1:1 care for all women choosing to birth with us, in every birth setting - Home Birth, Midwifery Led and Obstetric Led.

We have been nominated several times for RCM awards and are internationally recognised for our research and practices into ‘Kangaroo Care’, for the promotion of well-being in transitional care babies.

We have a vibrant workforce, and encourage the sharing of ideas and innovation from staff, to contribute to the evolution of our services, and shaping our strategy.

If you are energetic, committed, and passionate then come and join our team and be part of a Trust which is truly women centred and proud of its achievements.

We have an exciting new post to attract an experienced Midwifery Support Worker who would like a new challenge and a chance for career progression.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and driven band 4 to join the Practice Development Team in Midwifery.

You will support the work the Team are doing , be competent in IT processes, and also be confident to deliver training to your MSW peer group.

This role is fixed term for 1 year

You will be expected to attend the Trust’s Induction Programme for RNs, RMs and ODPs (which starts on the first day of employment).  The programme is full-time (please contact the programme lead if this is problematic: nicola.henthorn@nhs.net), lasts for two weeks and will involve travelling to both Trust sites. The programme includes supernumerary shifts in the clinical area and classroom-based study days which run from 9am to 5pm.

Please note that appointment to this post will be subject to a satisfactory Disclosure & Barring Service Check at enhanced level. (Enhanced level now includes regulated checks against vulnerable adults and children)

We are passionate in supporting our staff to develop and have great opportunities for career progression. We take equality and diversity seriously and seek to empower all diverse groups within our trust. We seek to develop a culture where diversity in all its forms is celebrated. We are committed to ensuring that women are empowered to work at all levels of management and that working patterns are as flexible as possible giving all members of staff opportunity to flourish in using their skills for our patients. We work across our trust to enable those who consider themselves to have a disability both visible and invisible to have access to all they need to thrive in their work environment. We work with Stonewall to embed an inclusive and accepting culture for all lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender staff. We have 78 nationalities working in our trust and we are proud of this. We are active in embracing the ethnic and cultural diversity in our trust. We work to empower people with any protected characteristic to have opportunities to work in an environment that helps them to contribute to the best of their ability, recognising and valuing the unique contributions each of us brings for best quality care and service to our patients. We are committed to supporting the delivery of the Equality Act with zero tolerance for any discrimination, harassment or victimisation of applicants and staff with these protected characteristics

Closing Date: Sunday 16th August 2020

Applications from job seekers who require Tier 2 sponsorship to work in the UK are welcome and will be considered alongside all other applications. However, non-EEA candidates may not be appointed to a post if a suitably qualified, experienced and skilled EU/EEA candidate is available to take up the post as the employing body is unlikely, in these circumstances, to satisfy the resident labour market test. UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) requires employers to complete this test to show that no suitably qualified EEA or EU worker can fill the post. For further information please visit the UKVI website. From 6 April 2017, Tier 2 skilled worker applicants, applying for entry clearance into the UK, must present a criminal record certificate from each country they have resided continuously or cumulatively for 12 months or more in the past 10 years. Adult dependants (over 18 years old) will also be subject to this requirement. Guidance can be found here Criminal Records Checks for Overseas Applicants.
