Are you looking to start your career in adult’s speech and language therapy or perhaps you are recently qualified and moving into the area? We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 5 Speech and Language Therapist to come and work for the Adult Autism Keyworker Support Service in Kent and Medway.

We are an integrated team that includes Occupational Therapists and social worker and seek to add other specialist skills to our team. We support autistic adults in the community many of who have communication needs. This is a newly developed service and offers opportunity to help shape it. 

We have a full-time Band 5 speech and language therapy post on a Fixed Term Contract until March 2026 available. We are looking for a therapist who is passionate about improving outcomes for autistic adults with communication needs in the community. We can offer a range of clinical experiences so that you can explore and develop as a clinician at your pace.

We will provide training and we offer excellent supervision and development opportunities to support you through your RCSLT preceptorship. Contact Rachel Numas on [email protected] to know more about the post and what we can offer you.

Prif ddyletswyddau'r swydd

The main focus of this post is to provide psychosocial /psychoeducational post diagnostic support for autistic adults across Kent and Medway. 
Psychosocial interventions should be offered where needs present, and in line with NICE guidance. This may involve:

  • a group-based social learning programme focused on improving social interaction
  • and individually delivered social learning programme for people who find group-based activities difficult

  • Registered Healthcare Professional with relevant Professional body (Occupational Therapist; Speech and Language Therapist etc / HCPC) Degree in a health relevant subject or willingness to complete a degree (within 3 years of appointment)

EXPERIENCE

  • Experience of recent community/acute healthcare gained through education or work experience placement or previous employment

KNOWLEDGE

  • Awareness of professional issues and recent developments in the NHS Knowledge of up to date clinical practice
