- Primary and secondary mental health care for children and adults, including specialist inpatient child and adolescent mental health provision, perinatal mental health, and forensic services with low and medium secure care.
- Specialist mental health inpatient care for individuals with learning disabilities, alongside specialist community support for children and adults with learning disabilities and autism, including intensive support.
- Extensive community physical health and well-being services for children and adults, covering prevention, treatment, rehabilitation, and long-term condition management.

Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a part time Senior Dental Officer to join Lancashire & South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust Dental Services on a fixed term contract to cover maternity leave ending 31 June 2027.
Main duties of the job
The post is suitable for an experienced practitioner to work 4 days/30 hours per week at Oak House Dental Centre in Accrington.
You will be expected to work at other sites within LSCft Dental Services within East Lancashire and BwD
The post includes the provision of care within the specialties of special care and paediatric dentistry and urgent care for patients receiving continuing care within the service and those referred by the Lancashire Call Handling. Experience in inhalation conscious sedation is preferred

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
This role is supported by specialists in special care and paediatric dentistry. Dental nurses are qualified and many have training in extended duties-radiography, sedation, special care, fluoride application.
Oak House Dental Centre also provides undergraduate clinical placements for the University of Lancashire.
Mentoring and clinical supervision is available and professional development supported.
We are close to the coast, the beautiful Ribble Valley and only 45 minutes from the Lake District.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- BDS or equivalent qualification
- Full GDC registration without restriction
- Dental indemnity insurance
- Included on Performers list without restrictions
Experience
Essential criteria
- Evidence of continual professional development both general and role specific
- Experience of providing special care dentistry and conscious sedation within a primary care setting.
- Evidence of providing both urgent and routine care on a regular basis
- Evidence of clinical and non-clinical leadership and management skills
Knowledge & Skills
Essential criteria
- Providing dental treatment under sedation and general anaesthesia
- Clinical leadership experience in dentistry
- Experience of treating paediatric and special needs patients
