The Trust was first established in 2002 and employs approximately 7,500 staff who provide care from more than 400 sites. Job overview
An exciting opportunity have arisen for suitably qualified Speech and Language Therapists to join the forward thinking and super friendly Hyndburn Ribble Valley and Rossendale Children’s Therapy Team.
We are one of 3 Children’s Therapy teams working across the Pennine area in Lancashire and are committed to improving the communication skills of children and young people, while supporting carers and other professionals to increase their ability to understand and support children with communication needs. The Locality Team in Burnley and Pendle consists of SLTs and OTs working together.
The Children’s Speech & Language Therapy teams provide high quality services to children with speech, language and communication difficulties across the locality. We work in a variety of locations, including clinics, children’s own homes, nurseries and schools. We work closely with families and with colleagues in health, education and social care and you must have excellent communication skills to support these relationships.
Main duties of the job
You must be enthusiastic and motivated and have experience of working with children with diverse speech, language and communication needs.
Competency or an interest in managing eating, drinking and swallowing difficulties is desirable.
You will manage your own time and caseload effectively and also support assistant practitioners in managing a delegated caseload. We are committed to promoting professional development in all staff and you should be enthusiastic about developing your leadership skills in service innovation, supervision and line management of junior therapists and assistants. Demonstrating a proactive approach to your own clinical and professional development and having a sound understanding of evidence based practice, is important.

- Professional Degree or equivalent in Speech & Language Therapy
- Current Professional Registration with HCPC
- Evidence of continued professional development
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Understanding of clinical governance framework & implications for practice, including audit and research governance
- Knowledge of a broad range of assessment tools.
- Knowledge of a range of therapy techniques and programmes
Experience
Essential criteria
- Multi-disciplinary/multi-agency collaborative working
- Safeguarding of children/adults and implementation of policy and procedures with evidence of training/updates
- Involvement in service improvement projects
