Main duties of the job

Main Duties and Responsibilities

 To act as Education co-ordinator for DAFNE/DESMOND education – this will include listing and booking patients for courses, sourcing venues and ensuring resources available.

 Input data onto spreadsheets/ databases

Ordering equipment, raising purchase orders, requesting collections and maintaining stock levels 

To ensure that equipment is fit for purpose and to report any defects to qualified staff.

To attend departmental staff meetings and mandatory training sessions.

Ensure safety of self, colleagues and patients.

To take part in the appraisal process as an attendee.

Comply with the requirements of the Data Protection Act, Access to Health Records Act and legislation in relation to confidential data

Adhere to Trust Policies and procedures such as the Infection Control Procedure.

Answer the telephone, take messages and deal with enquiries on behalf of the team.  It may be necessary to take appropriate action e.g. either pass on the information to a specific staff member, return the call or send a task via EMIS.

Education/Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • GCSE or equivalent in English and Maths
Desirable criteria
  • NVQ level 3 or equivalent in an appropriate subject

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Competent in the use of Microsoft office
  • Understanding of confidentiality
Desirable criteria
  • Competent in the use of iPM/Lorenzo/EMIS
  • Knowledge of the RTT (referral to treatment) targets

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Previous experience in a high-level customer service environment
  • Previously worked successfully using IT
  • Previous experience working within a department where telephony standards are agreed and delivered to a high standard
Desirable criteria
  • Previously worked within a healthcare setting
  • Previous experience working within the NHS
  • Previous experience booking appointments
