We are looking for an enthusiastic, highly motivated, Registered Pharmacy Technician with demonstrable post qualification experience, who wants to make a real difference to patient care, to join our successful team and contribute to developing our services and continuing to extend the technician role.
Applicants should hold a Level 3 BTEC / NVQ Pharmacy Services certificate or equivalent and be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council as a Pharmacy technician.
Duties will include:
- Once fully trained be participating in medication rounds ensuring safe and timely administration
- Conduct medicines reconciliation by reviewing patients records and liaising with GP's and community pharmacies
- Dispense inpatient and outpatient prescriptions accurately and efficiently
- Perform accuracy checks
Main duties of the job
To co-operate with all pharmaceutical staff in providing and developing the technical aspects of the pharmaceutical service including comprehensive dispensing and medicines distribution service to out-patients on all wards and departments throughout the Trust.
To train and mentor new and existing staff and supervise pre-registration trainee pharmacy technicians.
· After completion of the Medicines Management training programme the post-holder will carry out a comprehensive range of pharmaceutical activities at ward level and will have sufficient knowledge and experience to work unsupervised as part of the ward team.
· After competency training the post holder will be asked to undertake duties of a more specialised nature by administering medication to patients on the ward.

- Significant experience of technical pharmacy service delivery which would normally be achieved after at least two years post qualification.
- Possession of Accredited Checking technician qualification

- Accreditation in Medicines Management or equivalent experience

- Recent experience of working in a busy Hospital or Community Pharmacy
- Experience of ward-based medicines management processes, including assessment of patients own medicines
