We are looking for a dedicated Sonographer, with excellent clinical skills to join our friendly and progressive team.

Whether you are a new sonographer looking for that first step into an acute environment or an experienced sonographer looking to broaden your skill set Tameside Hospital has a wealth of opportunities to offer you.

Tameside Ultrasound department is a forward thinking department which has undergone significant transformation in recent years. There has been investment in ultrasound equipment and in clinical and managerial support from the Radiologists, and radiology management team. We are one of the only trusts in the North West to have a Consultant Sonographer who heads the department and offers mentorship, clinical support to Sonographer team. We also have 2 additional Trainee Consultant Sonographers joining the team in May. 

Tameside Hospital promotes and supports continued professional development in a supportive learning environment; we encourage and pay for attendance at relevant study days and national conferences such as BMUS / UKRC. There are also a successful monthly Ultrasound interesting case & Gynaecology meetings as well as quarterly Radiology Audit meetings.   

There is an opportunity for flexible working, with options for evening and weekend work .

Main duties of the job

To act as an independent ultrasound practitioner performing and reporting own ultrasound examinations. To assist the Consultant Radiographer with the day to day running of the department. To provide training and supervision for relevant qualified staff groups and students deployed to the ultrasound department

Essential criteria
  • BSc in Diagnostic Radiography or DCR
  • Hold a recognised Ultrasound qualification to a minimum level of Post Graduate /Certificate Diploma awarded by an Consortium for Accreditation of Sonographic Education (CASE) approved higher educational provider.
  • DQASS Accreditation
  • HCPC Registered
  • Have an up to date professional development portfolio
Desirable criteria
  • Membership of Public Voluntary Sonographer Register SoR.
  • Professional Membership

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

Essential criteria
  • Have an up to date professional development portfolio
  • Experience at writing reports
  • Experience in counselling, breaking bad news
  • General administrative duties within an ultrasound environment
  • Demonstrate experience of multi-disciplinary team working and evidence of supporting service developments
Desirable criteria
  • Experience in Audit and Quality
  • Cranial Ultrasound in Neonates
  • 3D Scanning in Gynaecology Imaging
