Job overview

The post holder will provide effective dietetic treatment for a caseload of adult inpatients at Tameside General Hospital. This will be on a variety of wards but mainly on the Stroke Unit.

You will be the Lead Dietitian for dysphagia on the hospital site and liaise closely with Catering and Speech and Language Therapists to optimise nutritional provision and care for patients with dysphagia.

We can offer opportunities to develop skills and knowledge in Critical Care and / or Fraility.

 

You will mentor recently qualified dietitians, be involved with all aspects of provision for dietetic learners and provide training to other Healthcare Professionals,

 

Main duties of the job

·       To provide a high quality, efficient Dietetic service to adult patients on a variety of wards including the Stroke Rehabilitation ward.

·       To provide knowledge and expertise in relation to dysphagia in neurological disorders.

·       To provide knowledge and experience to assist less experienced dietitians manage their more complex patients in a safe and high quality way across surgical, medical and elderly care wards.

·       To participate in the training of other health professionals as agreed with Team Lead.

·       To cover clinics (critical care, outpatients or community) if required.

·       If appropriate, and after training to support dietetic assistant and do 1-1s and annual appraisals with them.
