Band 6 Community Midwife - Permanent, various hours available.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for band 6 NMC Registered Midwives to join our community midwifery team.
Our community midwifery services strive to provide high standards of evidenced-based, personalised care from hospital and community bases across Tameside and Glossop.
We are seeking experienced and enthusiastic midwives with a flexible approach to work, who can work autonomously and within a Multi-Disciplinary Team to provide safe and effective care across the antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal periods.
You should be confident and knowledgeable, with excellent interpersonal and clinical skills to fulfil the requirements of this role. We expect our community midwives to advocate and provide holistic, individualised care and advice to meet the needs of individuals . You will work within our guidelines and pathways, and exercise professionalism, initiative, and sound clinical judgement to appropriately refer to and work alongside our MDT and partner agencies.
Main duties of the job
The post is for a Band 6 Midwife with post-qualification NHS experience (preferably a minimum of 2 years) to work in the community and intrapartum settings. The intrapartum care will be provided through an on-call basis to support the homebirth service.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- RM with current UK NMC registration
- Diploma/Degree in midwifery
- Adult Basic Life Support
- Neonatal Life Support
Desirable criteria
- NIPE/ENB 997 or equivalent, or working towards
- Preparation for Mentorship or Supporting Learners in Practice / practising Practice Supervisor or Assessor
Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience of working in all areas of maternity, with community experience
- 2 years post-registration experience in the NHS
- Commitment to professional development & evidence of CPD
Desirable criteria
- Experience of providing intrapartum care within the home environment
Skills
Essential criteria
- Can demonstrate evidence based knowledge and application to practice
- Excellent interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills
- Demonstrates understanding of role boundaries and able to recognise when to escalate
- Ability to prioritise and effectively manage own workload
- Ability to travel around Tameside and Glossop
