Job overview
· To deputise for the Head of Legal Services in all matters, including line management, leadership and support.
· To provide professional in-house legal advice and services across a range of matters, but in particular in relation to medico-legal issues and inquests.
· Undertake factual investigations of clinical negligence, public and employer liability claims against the Trust in accordance with Trust policies and the requirements of NHS Resolution.
·To liaise with H M Coroner as required, providing appropriate legal representation of the Trust and its staff in the Coroner's Court.
·To contribute to the Trust’s Risk Management and Clinical Governance processes
· To provide relevant training for Trust staff.
·To establish effective working relationships with senior managers and staff across the Trust, and with external organisations such as NHS Resolution, HM Coroner, external legal advisors and other legal firms.

· Relevant post-qualification experience as a Solicitor/Barrister/Legal Executive/equivalent experience
· Experience of working within a legal team
· Experience of handling inquests in the Coroner’s Court
· Experience of managing clinical negligence claims
· Advocacy experience in a variety of settings
