Permanent Position - 37.5 hours per week 

Band 5 salary + on call 

Responsible for day-to-day operational maintenance of the hospital environment at The Tameside General Hospital, including reactive and pre planned maintenance tasks. If you are looking to advance your knowledge and like a challenge this is the job for you.

 

Main duties of the job

1.     The Estates multi skilled engineer (Electrical bias) has responsibility for day-to-day operational maintenance of the hospital environment at The Tameside General Hospital, including reactive and pre planned maintenance tasks, and where required to work with specialist contractors.

Efficient and effective operation and maintenance of environmental engineering plant, equipment and other engineering systems including electrical systems, generators, LV systems, heating, air conditioning, fire alarms and specialist healthcare equipment. Diagnosis and repair faults including mechanical, and electrical devices and control systems.

Education/ Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • C&G Level 3 Electrical Qualification
  • Completed Apprenticeship
  • Competent Person Certification
  • IEE Regulations 18th Edition
Desirable criteria
  • Professional registration with relevant institute engineering, management, etc. CIBSE, IET, CIOB or IHEEM
  • B Tech / HNC or equivalent
  • Authorised Person LV HTM 06-02
  • GCSEs (Grades A – C*) or NVQ Level 3 or equivalent

Knowledge and Experience

Essential criteria
  • Fault finding skills
  • Relevant post qualification experience
  • Health Technical Memorandums (HTMs)
  • BMS (Building Management System) Experience
Desirable criteria
  • Medical Gas experience and knowledge
  • Previous or continued NHS Experience in Estates
  • Evidence of Continued Professional Development (CPDs)
  • Experience of CAFM system / similar data management system.

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Good written and verbal communication skills, physical skills and manual handling.
  • Ability to understand complex drawings, documents, reports
  • The ability to plan and organise own workload without direct supervision. Demonstrate good initiative
  • The ability to be innovative, objective as well as logical in resolving problems.
  • Be willing to attend training and development course as required by the role.
