Job overview
To perform a full range of cardiac physiology duties within a large district general, with the emphasis on patient centred care. You will be involved in the wide range of cardiac investigations carried out by the department including ECGs, ambulatory monitoring and analysis, cardiac catheterisation, exercise tests, tilt tests, device implants and follow ups (including complex devices). The post holder will also assist with the training of students and junior members of the department.
The post holder will be expected to be working towards accreditation or hold accreditation in Cardiac Rhythm Management (BHRS).
Main duties of the job
Non-Invasive
· Perform, interpret and report 12-lead ECGs; ambulatory ECG monitors; ambulatory BP monitors and event recorders; exercise tolerance tests, physiologist and doctor led; tilt table testing
Invasive
· Patient monitoring, haemodynamic recording and reporting during diagnostic and interventional angiography
· Work independently and be able to supervise and troubleshoot in the cardiac catheter lab in procedures such as but not limited to PCI, PPCI, OCT, rotablation, IVUS, pressure wires, shock wave, CTOs, temporary pacing wires and intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP)
· To be able to recognise and deal with acute situations which involve the need for external pacing, defibrillation and/or CPR.
· Support and participate in the on-call cath lab service
Cardiac Rhythm Management
· Involvement in the Implantable Loop Recorder follow up service, including analysis, reporting of data, and communication with patients on service use
· Provide technical assistance during cardiac device implants including pacemakers, conduction system pacemakers, ICDs and CRT devices.
· Assist senior colleagues in implantable device checks helping to maintain patient safety and ensuring optimal device function in accordance with BHRS guidelines.

Person specification
BSc Clinical Physiology/Healthcare Science/Equivalent
Essential criteria
- Degree in relevant field
- Registration with RCCP/AHCS
- ILS/ALS
- Demonstration of evidence based team work
- Demonstration of evidence and knowledge in Cardiology Investigations
- Demonstration of evidence and knowledge in Cardiology Devices
- Ability to work independently
- flexibility and on- call
Desirable criteria
- Participates in audits
- Understanding of NICE and NHSE
